The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located in Grand Prairie, Texas, intends to solicit for the provision of Bulk Softener Salt and Bag Softener Salt for the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), located at 4004 E. Arkona Road, Milan, Michigan 48160. The contract type is an indefinite delivery/requirement contract with firm-fixed unit prices. The contract period will consist of a base period from date of award through 12 months, with (1) one-year option period. The North American Industrial Classification (NAICS) code is 325998 - All Other Miscellaneous Chemical Product and Preparation Manufacturing, (Size Standard of 650 employees). This solicitation is a small business set aside. The contractor shall provide Bulk Solar Salt and Bag Softener Salt to be used in the water treatment system at FCI Milan. The Bulk/Bag Salt is necessary to treat the hard water supplied by the City of Milan. The treated water is used throughout the FCI and FDC for potable water in the Housing Units, Food Service, Boiler Systems, Heating Systems, etc. The Bulk Salt shall conform to the following specifications to be acceptable: Extra course solar salt consisting of Sodium Chloride Dry 99.6%, Calcium and Magnesium -.05%, Sulfite (So4) - .12%, Surface Moisture - .2% max, Water Insoluble-1% max. The contractor shall provide approximately 12 deliveries a year, totaling 600 tons a year on the Bulk Salt and 3,528 Bags of Salt delivered quarterly for a total of 14,112 each year. A delivery will be via a Pneumatic Truck and will contain a 50-ton load. Salt will be stored in a fiberglass silo. All deliveries will be scheduled between the hours of 7:00 am and 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Services are required to be provided by the contractor in accordance with the specifications. The solicitation will be made available on or about September 19, 2023, and will be distributed solely through the website at www.sam.gov. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available.
