The Office of Quality Operations of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) has a requirement for Xenon Arc Light Apparatus Equipment required to perform the Lightfastness testing for papers that are frequently handled such as currency, currency paper, non-distinctive banknote paper and miscellaneous materials. Additionally, the Xenon Arc Light Apparatus Equipment is an apparatus used for determining the resistance of paper, inks, resins and other materials to fading. It accelerates the fading by subjecting the article to high-intensity ultraviolet rays of approximately the same wavelength as those found in sunlight.
